Half Dome in Winter
Yosemite's Half Dome peeks through a veil of mist during evening golden hour.
This trip was full of unexpected surprises. For one, the weather forecast said it would snow at night and be clear all day, perfect for shooting fresh snow. Well, that snowstorm hung around all day and blotted out all the iconic sights. It was getting a little depressing when all of a sudden, hints of blue showed up in the sky directly above. On that, we made for Cook's Meadow for the third time, hoping to catch a glimpse of "the bald one". About as soon as I was setup at the stream and ready to shoot, Half Dome appeared as if on cue the give the crowd a very brief but welcome show. Nobody fell in, but most of us experienced an unwelcomed "shoe dunk" when stepping on a void in the snow. Dry feet were not an option.
