Black Beach at Wai'anapanapa
Keeping indoors for days on end makes one contemplate the outdoors, namely, those places that have a centering effect on one's soul. I dug deep into the archives to this trip to Maui from 2012 and several previously unprocessed images. My shooting and compositional skills have improved a great deal since then, but I am still able to view these images and remember the warm ocean surf battering my legs as the sun backlit some lively water at Waiʻānapanapa State Beach.
I hope you enjoy this series and they touch you in a similar way.
If you happened here by a search and are planning a trip, please know there are very organized thieves working the parking lot. They have scouts, a lookout, a stash vehicle, and they use hand signals and phones to communicate. They will smash your window or pry open your trunk without a second thought.
