Mahinanui Sunrise

Mahinanui Sunrise

The morning sky was ablaze at this remote cliffside above Kahakuloa village around the back side of West Maui.
Though it took me hours to reach this spot by car and foot from Wailea, the Kahului airport is actually in this image on the horizon. I had to wait for planes to stop landing to take the shot. So much for getting away from it all, lol.
Landscape photography often finds us alone with nature, seeing things others do not ordinarily see. I hiked down the steep rocks alone in the dark to experience the first rays of morning on the water and cliff face. It was truly thrilling.
