Up and Away

Sandhill cranes take to the air near Woodbridge Ecological Reserve in Lodi, CA.
There were only about 20 cranes in this field when I arrived, so I set up and waited for sunrise. Shots from nearby duck hunters spooked this cluster to take flight, and just like that, the show was over.
Lens is the behemoth 645 A* 600mm f/5.6 with 1.4x TC on the Pentax 645Z.
