Rancho Seco Blood Moon
I had a blast racing out to this decommissioned nuclear generating station with Matt, Miguel and Paul, to find some clear sky for the lunar eclipse. The original plan had us meeting up in Rio Vista for some wind turbines, but I just really think we needed a more powerful source of energy. ;)
I'm gonna just come out and say that this image is loosely based on fact...let's leave it at that. I did actually shoot everything you see in the photo, just not necessarily at the same moment.
There was an eerie glow over Geiger Family Vineyards tonight...or was that the search beam of the security guard who was trying to find us amidst the grapes? Afterall, I wouldn't need to outrun the guard, just my amigos.
This is a long exposure AND a short exposure. Lens is the FA31...or is it? Camera is the Pentax K5..I think. Lots of processing and other pixel hijinks to remove power lines, boost star intensity, etc.
...all in the name of art.
I hope you like it!
