Tulloch Mill
A starry night over Tulloch's Mill Knight's Ferry. CA. Built in 1862 as a flour mill, this mill was later converted to produce hydroelectric power for the area.
Miguel and I took advantage of the dark weekend skies to frame up some new comps in this place. The lack of inner floors in the structure lends itself to light painting, as all of the windows could be illuminated in a single pass using my LED panel-on-a-stick. I set it to a warm temp for the inside, and a cooler temp for the outside of the structure and trees.
I've raised the exposure substantially from the actual ambient light in this place. In actuality, when I opened my shutter, I had to feel my way to the building in complete darkness, find the windows, and then blast my light panel for 1 sec, then turn it off and try to feel my way back to my camera. It was hit or miss.
