Guardians Of Night

Rodeo Beach is just across the Golden Gate Bridge to the north and is a beautiful beach to visit in the daytime. Matt G. and I took a chance that the offshore system might blow in just after sunset and well, that didn't quite go our way, but the moon and stars were popping after dark through mostly clear skies.

Rodeo Beach has been one of my favorite beaches to shoot because those same three sea stacks can be portrayed in so many different ways, Walk around these majestic structures and they even change shape and character.

Shooting long exposures during a rising tide generally means getting wet and getting the gear splashed fairly well. Fortunately, of the only TWO weather sealed lenses I own for this rig, they happened to be the focal lengths I needed for the outing(25mm and 55mm), so I did not need to worry about all the water. This is a manual blend of 3 exposures using the D FA 25mm lens on the weather sealed Pentax 645D camera. Some NIK efex added for de-noise and colors. I tried to emulate what we were seeing with our eyes.
