Along the Stanislaus River
Last night from the covered bridge in Knights Ferry, CA, along the gently flowing waters of the Stanislaus River. I arrived at sunset and set up to wait for dark. Despite the dozens of holiday picnickers along the river when I got there, the place cleared out quick once the parking lot closed. I enjoyed some peaceful introspection as I listened to the chatter of bats and the kerplunk of an occasional fish. Later, I turned on my headlamp to see several deer coming out to pick through the overflowing garbage cans.
This is a composite utilizing the built-in astrotracer/GPS unit on my Pentax K-3II camera. The astrotracer feature directs the movement of the camera sensor in sync with Earth's rotation to permit long exposures with no star trailing. A second longer exposure was taken with the astrotracer turned off for the stationary terrestrial scene.
To liven up the bridge a bit, I walked slowly inside it several times with my flashlight aiming at the ceiling and windows. By the third attempt, I finally got it right.
Lens is the D FA15-30 f/2.8. Thanks for looking.
