I am slowly chipping away at processing the vacation photos from Maui.
This one captures important landmarks from TWO of the Hawaiian islands. In the foreground is the rim of Mt Haleakala (Maui). In the distance, the venerable Mauna Kea (Hawai'i) rises from the clouds to greet the rising sun. This image was shot a few minutes before sunrise as the sky was burning orange.
I looked at my EXIF data which shows the altitude here was 2993.2m (just under 10,000ft). I can also tell you the temperature was a refreshing 45 deg F and very windy. Being up there for a couple hours in the dark makes one wish for a little hot lava to come out from somewhere.
